霍夫曼教授将毕生奉献给了天然免疫研究，曾当选美、法、德、俄等多国科学院院士，是公认的引领天然免疫发展的先驱。他和他的同事发现了对天然免疫起至关重要作用的Toll跨膜受体。这一革命性的发现为理解天然免疫启动适应性免疫提供了基础，为预防和治疗免疫相关重大疾病问题开辟了新途径。为此，霍夫曼教授曾获得多项著名国际奖项，包括2011年诺贝尔生理学或医学奖。

霍夫曼教授带领的团队，隶属于法国最高权威科研机构 — 法国国家科学研究院，主要研究领域为真菌及病毒感染过程中的天然免疫抵抗以及恢复机制。

Infinitus has always reached out to top academic institutions around the world, including Cambridge University, Académie des sciences and Université Paris Diderot in France.  We are happy to announce that the revered Professor Jules A. Hoffmann, a Nobel Laureate in Physiology or Medicine, has just been appointed as the Infinitus Scientific Advisorto!

Infinitus will establish a long-term strategic partnership with Prof. Hoffmann and his team from the French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS), and will carry out in-depth cooperation in anti-virus activities, gut immunity and other fields with TCM to favour the application of basic research to Chinese herbal health products. This is expected to further regulate human immunity and enhance the ability to prevent and treat diseases.

Prof. Hoffmann has devoted his life to the study of innate immunity. Recognized as a pioneer in this area, he has been elected to the national academies of sciences from many countries, including the U.S., France, Germany and Russia. He and his associates have discovered the role of the Toll transmembrane receptor in sensing pathogenic micro-organisms. The discovery of this key principle has provided a basis for understanding the activation of the adaptive immune response by innate immunity and has opened new paths in the prevention and treatment of major immunity-related diseases. Because of this, he has won many well-known international awards, including the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine 2011.

Regarding the partnership, Prof. Hoffmann commented, "The efficacy of Chinese herbal medicine is getting more and more attention nowadays. Its important role in immune regulation has become a global academic interest, which warrants the development of basic research in this area. Given the significant achievements and the solid strength in R&D, Infinitus is an ideal partner for such undertakings."

Senior Vice President of LKKHPG, Mr. Tim Chun believes that the collaboration with Professor Hoffmann will help Infinitus turn a new page on its R&D on Chinese herbal medicinal products related to how they can boost our immune system and how their quality can be raised to a whole new level.

The research team led by Professor Hoffmann currently work with the Centre national de la recherche scientifique (CNRS) – the most authoritative science and research institution in France, specializing in the study of the innate resistance and recovery mechanism in virus infections and mycoses. 

After the contract signing ceremony, Professor Hoffmann and his team visits the laboratory in our R&D center.
